Here are the three important takeaways I believe you need to aware of:
- 95% of cardiovascular diseases are completely preventable by diet and lifestyle changes and in many cases reversible, that’s awesome! What are you waiting for?
- Cardiovascular diseases kill more people in the US and among developed nations than all other illnesses combined (please note that in developing countries, infectious disease like malaria and tuberculosis is the number 1 killer.) I find that to be an amazing statistic, especially when we are being told that 1 in 3 of us will be diagnosed with cancer in our lifetime. CVD needs more attention than it’s getting, don’t you think?
- With 65% of adults and 15% of children being overweight or obese and where the rate of diabetes has gone up 70% for 30-year-olds the past 10 years, we may be witnessing the first generation in which children lead a shorter lifespan than their parents, wow, that is sad! So, how do you broach this with the ones you love? Perhaps you could begin by discussing your own personal challenges as they relate to health and wellness lifestyle goals.
